- Building permits are required for the following projects: New home, room addition, basement finishing and remodeling, kitchen or bath remodeling, deck, driveway, fence, garage, garden shed, parking pads, roof, and pools.
- In addition to a building permit pools, spas and hot tubs require an additional pool permit. See the next section for details.
- To apply for a building permit download, print and complete form APEBP-669 Building Permit Application.
- Sections I and II of the application must be completed for ALL projects.
- Section III is only applicable for new buildings or additions to existing buildings.
- Section IV of the application must be completed for ALL projects AND MUST BE signed.
- Section IX on the back page of the application is REQUIRED and MUST be completed by THE APPLICANT.
Outdoor Pool Permits
In addition to a building permit a separate pool permit is required for all outdoor pools, spas and hot tubs with a water depth of 24 inches or more. Owning a pool, spa or hot tub can bring hours of enjoyment however it also introduces significant risk and liabilities for the homeowner and overall community. For this reason the Village of Hudson has provided a checklist and requires pool permit be issued before residents fill their pool with water. Although this process my appear cumbersome going through the required pool permitting process helps ensure the safety of both the pool owner and surrounding residents, in particular children. According to the CDC there are over 700 pool related accidental drownings every year with a tragic 174 child drownings in pools or spas over this past 2014 summer season. In addition for every child who dies from drowning, another five receive emergency department care for nonfatal submersion injuries. Additional information regarding pool safety can be found on the CDC Website and www.poolsafely.gov. Families with children are strongly encouraged to look at these resources and educate themselves and their children on how to enjoy their pool while being safe.

- To apply for a pool permit download, print and complete form P-001 Outdoor Pool Permit Application and Checklist.
- Prior to a permit being issued by the Village, the resident MUST request approval from the McLean County Health Department.
- Residents must comply with all other Village ordinances, including regulations pertaining to plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work.
- A favorable pool inspection and grant of a permit is required PRIOR to filling the pool, spa or hot tub with water.
