As we have quite a few citizens who walk for exercise or are just simply walking their pet, I have a few reminders that will keep everyone safe and respectful.
If you are walking at night, wear reflective clothing and carry a lighted flashlight or other illuminated device.
If there is a sidewalk available, you should utilize the sidewalk and avoid walking in the street. State law prohibits pedestrians from walking in the roadway when a sidewalk is available.
If no sidewalk is available, walk as close as possible to the edge of the roadway facing oncoming traffic.
Please avoid walking on people's lawns and avoid cutting through people's backyards. Be respectful of other people's property.
Thank you and be safe while enjoying your walk in our village.
